Liz Slobodian, APR
Owner & Lead Storyteller

Liz spent the last nine years in various PR and communications roles at Firehouse Subs, including her most recent role as Vice President of Public Affairs where she oversaw external communications to include all public/media relations and community relations, crisis communications, government affairs, and external executive communications for one of North America's No. 1 restaurant franchises. During her tenure at Firehouse Subs, she built the brand’s in-house PR team from the ground up.

 

Prior to Firehouse Subs, she led PR/marketing for the national nonprofit American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association where she created its first PR/social media programs and a complete rebrand. Her PR and communications career began in Los Angeles at global PR agency where she worked with brands such as Logitech, StubHub, financial tech startups, and hospitals/cancer centers before joining a public affairs firm in New Mexico - leading PR/media relations, public affairs, and advocacy initiatives for American Indian tribes, nonprofits, construction/real estate companies, hospitals, and more.

 

A Jacksonville, Fla. native, Liz is a graduate of the University of North Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in sports management. She serves on the University of North Florida Department of Communication Professional Advisory Board and is a professional mentor to student programs at the University of North Florida and Jacksonville University, volunteers for charities across Northeast Florida, and mentors upcoming public relations professionals. In 2022, she launched the Liz Slobodian Public Relations Scholarship at the University of North Florida and adopted the Rosemary Tutt Annual Scholarship at Flagler College. As an active member of the Florida Public Relations Association, she held several roles on the executive committee and served as Jacksonville Chapter President. Most recently, she was vice president of the International Foodservice Editorial Council and an at-large restaurant board director with the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association.

 

Liz’s work has been recognized by the Public Relations Society of America Awards and Florida Public Relations Association’s Golden Image Awards consecutively since 2016 for excellence in PR/comms strategies and programs. In 2022, Liz was named one of QSR Magazine’s Young Leaders to Watch - a leading restaurant industry power list. In 2018, Liz was recognized by the Florida Public Relations Association as Member of the Year, honoring her significant contributions to the association through outstanding leadership, demonstrated enthusiasm, extraordinary involvement and loyal support. Liz was also recognized by the Jacksonville Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 honoree in 2018, awarded for her business success, leadership skills, high level of community involvement, and dedication to shaping the First Coast community where she lives and works.
